A Thankful Heart
By: Richard L. McCulley

I Thessalonians 5:8 "In EVERYTHING give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Nationally, the Thanksgiving holiday is a day set aside for those who living in the United States to pause and give thanks. But for the Christian, EVERY DAY should be a day of thanksgiving! We have so much to be grateful to God for.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to be like the world. The world only see's negative in everything, they live on the negative side of life. But for the child of God, for those who have been born again, their very nature has changed. II Corinthians 5:17 says "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new." We have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness (which is a kingdom of unthankfulness) and have been translated into the kingdom of His dear Son.

God's Word tells us that we are to give thanks to Him in everything. As you search the scriptures you will see that even in the most dire of circumstances the people of God gave thanks. King David was one of those people. In Psalms 95:1,2 he said "O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."
